about

"LISCHE is the italian for FISHBONES. The quest for "real"; since the M.M. project started, 5 years ago, the music we play have ever been what we deeply feel. Working hard on ourselves, as a sort of corrosion, the lasted way to play our music had formed an essential untamed core. We start from here."

MADRIGALI MAGRI, 1999

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Madrigali Magri's Lische opens with a beautifully quiet piece that is complemented with a minimalist guitar and drum line. [...] All of the words on Madrigali Magri's Lische are in Italian, which is quite an interesting touch.

...What's truly remarkable about this recording is the use of quiet throughout. [...] A good quiet recording builds slowly; [...] Lische is quite a bit like the earlier work of Tortoise.

Lische certainly has a post-rock aesthetic, and this, along with some of the other unique qualities of the recording, make it infinitely listenable. This is an excellently organic recording, and one that truly gives some insight into a fantastic ensemble at work.
